Abstract

Product certification API specification 6D is an international standard for requirements for pipeline valves implemented with ISO 9001:2015&/or API spec Q1. This research examines the effect of this certification onthe performance of the business with respect to many aspects. A questionnaire was sent to professionals in the industry over geographies. 6 of 7 variables were significant (ANOVA p-value <0.05). Cluster analysis determined 3 groups of respondents: those believing this certification provides good, great and excellent benefits. Industry professionals surveyed believe that API 6D and QMS certification are valuable additions to valve manufacturers in oil and gas industry to boost their business performance.
